What is a mandibular surgery?

In recent years, two-jaw surgery is a plastic surgery that is known by many people who have little interest in cosmetic surgery because the number of Korean celebrities who have changed their appearance increased recently through a two-jaw surgery. 

So, what's the difference between a mandibular surgery and two-jaw surgery?

Two-jaw surgery refers to the simultaneous operation of the maxilla and mandible, as the word 'two' means.

Mandibular surgery is a surgery on the lower jaw literally to correct discomfort.

By altering the prominent position of the lower jaw, fixing the rough and short jaw (mandibular asymmetry) to complete the ideal facial shape.

There are two main types of surgery for mandibular surgery.

Namely, Sagittal Split Ramus Osteotomy (SSRO) and Intraoral Vertical Ramus Osteotomy (IVRO).

Sagittal Split Ramus Osteotomy is a method to repair the mandibular (lower jaw) of the jawbone by overlapping the bone with two boards and fix it with fixation pins. Cut between temporomandibular joint and the jaw, then the mandibular nerve is moved backwards to prevent injury to the lower jaw. If you use the fixation pin to fix it firmly, the mandibular position will stabilize after the operation. Because the synostosis is fast-paced, recovery and normal activity returns can be quickly.

Intraoral Vertical Ramus Osteotomy is a method of freeing the mandibular (lower jaw) vertically to fit the jaw muscle of the patient without repair after bone cutting. Because there is no fixation, there is no problem in movement of the temporomandibular joint after surgery. Since this is an operating procedure that helps functional jaw reconstruction, there is little rist of sensory damage, shortening of surgery, and less swelling and bleeding!

Mandibular surgery is good for people who do not include serious levels for jaw surgery. which has short jaw and a dimpled chin, facial asymmetry but not too much, if the jaw is too long or large.
